Today we started off our day in the Library with Mr. Brutto. When we returned we read the morning message and today we focused on vowel sounds. We replaced missing vowels in words and looked at how some vowels follow rules, and some you just have to remember. After the message we started to look at base-10 numbers and place value. We added some new words to our Math Vocabulary List.

After recess we learned how to write our math answers neatly and organized, and answered some questions based on base -10 blocks and place value
After lunch, we had a supply teacher in class while I attended some meetings. In class they read two chapters of Alvin Ho. The then started a writing a descriptive paragraph. Today the focus was on making a plan before writing using the five senses. Thinking clearly about an idea and organizing thoughts before putting words into sentences. We used their favourite meal as a topic. Just prior to recess we went outside for some DPA.
When we returned to recess we did some more work on our maps. We used different colours to outline the seven continents. We recored the colours of the outlines in a key on our map. We also reviewed the equator, prime meridian, compass rose, etc.
HOMEWORK: Writing: Complete the paragraph on favourite food, using the word web.
Should be at least 5 sentences.
