Thursday September 15, 2011

We started our day off by graphing the high/low temp. and students started to write in their Journals immediately for 15 min.   After writing, we reviewed attributes and completed a worksheet on identifying patterns with one or more attributes changing.  Afterwards we identified and described patterns that we found in our room.

After recess we looked at the world map and added the Prime Meridian, and also added the Western and Eastern Hemispheres.  We also coloured in Canada and the USA.

After lunch we reviewed "Read to Self".    We practiced, did a check-in on our reading and then did a great job at continuing read to self.    Then we started with some word work.   I gave the students some words based on what we are learning at the moment.

The words will be the Spelling list for this week.
Here are the words:
four, eight, twelve, fifteen, forty, hundred , thousand
world, map, equator, hemisphere, North, South, East, West
We worked on putting the words in alphabetical order, finding small words in big words, and also choose 8 words to put in a sentence.

After recess, Mr. Brutto took the students to the Library to do  book exchange and Mary read a story the class called, " Stanley's Party"  written by Linda Bailey a personal friend of hers.
