Today we started off the day by reading the morning message.  Within the message there were missing letters, and missing words.  The missing letters and words were done in a pattern. After completing the message they had to identify the pattern of missing elements.

We practiced writing our math words.    Students had decks of cards and used them to create 2-digit numbers.   From the numbers they created they wrote the number word.  eg.   22   twenty-two
If students found this easy they were encouraged to try three and four digit numbers.

After recess we focused on patterning and attributes.  We discussed that attributes are ways of describing something.  We then looked at attribute blocks and used words to describe our blocks.   The blocks were different in size, shape, colour, and thickness.  All were made of plasitc.

After lunch we did a variety of literacy activities.    We started off with Writing.   We talked about the writing process.   Plan, write, edit, good copy.     Today children were assigned to make at least 3 lists about their favourite things.    eg.  sports, foods, friends, etc.   Each list was to have at least five items.

After that we met to hear a story called, "The Old Woman and the Wave."    

We then talked about correct printing and did a printing activity to learn the correct way to make letters and to focus on writing carefully and neatly.

We finished our literacy by Read to Self, the first step in our Daily Five literacy activities.

We copied our homework in our agendas and then got ready for Music with Mr. Cook last period.
