We then moved into a lesson on growing patterns and practiced stating a pattern rule. We went to our desks and students were encouraged to create growing patterns. We then did a gallery walk of the patterns that were created. Some were very challenging!

After recess, we worked on more mapping skills. Last class we looked at the seven continents. Today we added the oceans, and the Mediterranean Sea. We also added the Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn. We also looked at a map of Canada and found the province of Ontario. We started a key, and noticed the star signified a capital city, and in this case it was Ottawa.
After lunch we had a Spelling Test. We then wrote down the words for next weeks lesson. These words are related to the Math and Social Studies we are doing.

Students then worked on putting these in alphabetical order.
We then read two more chapters from " Alvin Ho." Alvin is trying to miss school because he says he is allergic.
What did Alvin and the other students do to avoid going to school? Was it successful?
We then filled out our agendas and prepared to visit the library last period with Mr. Brutto and Mary.

REMINDER: IF YOU WANT TO TRY OUT FOR CHEERLEADING FORMS NEED TO BE RETURNED ASAP. TRYOUTS ARE MONDAY AT LUNCH.
(These are try-outs and not everyone will make it on the team. A cheerleading cluster may be offered later in the year for those that don't make it but want to cheerlead. We spoke as a class about what try-outs were, and to think carefully about how you may feel if you don't make it.)
