We started off the day with the morning message and we focused on antonyms. We then moved into our math groups. One group working on adding and subtracting money amounts. One group was looking at lines of symmetry. One group is looking at calendars and countings days, weeks, months and years. The final group is working on algebra problems on activity cards.
After recess we did some non-fiction reading about pioneer farms. We had to read a nonfiction text and then answer of series of questions that could be answered or inferred from the text. We are looking at writing answers in full sentences, using the text to assist spelling and also finding accurate information.
After recess, we planted some seeds. This is part of our science curriculum, but more so this was focused on pioneer farms. Pioneers had to grow their food. So we planted seeds of the kinds of crops the pioneers might have planted when the arrived in Canada. We will see how well they grow. After planting, we got into our family groups and made presentations about the different jobs that men, women, and children had on a pioneer farm. We talked about how everyone had job, no matter how small. Everybody contributed what they could.
Last period we had Music.
