We started the day off in the gym playing ball hockey with Mr. McCain. Looked like a very intense game when I picked the class up.
When we returned to class we read the morning message, and practiced our editting skills, which will come in handy when we look at the rough copies of our opinion letters. We then talked about Dr. Suess and watched a short video "Horton Hears and Who." The musical we are attending has many Dr. Suess characters, and it is based on Horton as a main character. We talked about how some of Dr. Suesses stories are funny and entertaining but offer a strong message or have a good main idea. After watching the video we learned that " a person is a person, no matter how small." Everyone had value, and we also find it easy to forget or think of others because we can see them.
After recess we started learning about multiplication. we learned the symbol "x" means groups of or times.We then looked at repeated addition sentences, and how you can change them to multiplication sentences. We also looked at what happens when you multiply a number by 0 or 1.
After lunch we had a spelling test, copied our new list words into our book, and then we had time to work on our opinion letters and our word work. This week the theme of the words is "adverbs" all will have the suffix "ly " .
