We then had a period in the library with Mr. Brutto.
When we returned from the libray we looked at our filter paper more closely from our science activity and debriefed what we had found. We learned from this experiment that the colours of fall leaves are already in the leaf, and that as the green disappears the other colours in the leaf show up. The colours are different for different trees. We used spinach and found that yellow was the other colour in the leaves. We looked at our hypothesis and then we decided if our hypothesis was correct or not.
After recess we did some word problems in Math that focused on addition and subtraction and identifying key words to help us choose an operation. One half of the class work with Tangrams and focused on angles and naming shapes, and also trying to solve some tangram puzzles /challenges.
After lunch Mr. Greenwald read the story "The Recess Queen" as part of our focus on bullying this week.... and every week for that matter. We shared our experiences with bullies, and after hearing the story we did a placemat activity. We looked at how bullies feel, victims feel, where bullying happens and strategies to deal with bullies.
After recess we went to the computer lab. to work on some media literacy and work on our reviews. We have the choice of reviewing two short animated films, 2 music videos, and 2 online games. After looking at the forms of media, we will write a review. The review tells the reader what is being reviewed, key features and then gives a personal opinion and a rating.
