Thursday November 16 Day 2

We started off the day in the Gym.

When we returned to class we handed in our homework , graphed the temperature and Mr. Greenwald did a lesson that reviewed kilometres.    In this lesson we had to measure the distance between cities on a map of Canada and each centimetre was equal to 100km.    This also reinforced  the idea of scale that we looked at few weeks ago when studying maps.

After recess we had geometry quiz.   It was to see how much of what was taught was retained and what ideas I may have to teach over again.   Most students understand parallelograms and quadrilaterals.   What we need to review is the special features of a rhombus. ( All sides equal, has two acute and two obtuse angles).

After lunch we went to the computer lab again to look at different types of online media, and filled in a more detailed sheet that will allow us to write reviews in more detail with more focus.    When we went back to class we did more social studies that looked at how communities grow from small towns to larger cites because of a resource that brings many people to that town.   i.e.   Sudbury and mining.     We then looked at what things are common to many communities even if the main industry is different.
( schools, hospitals, police, firemen, stores. etc.)

Last period we emptied our Writing Folders, organized our desks, and read another chapter from Mr. Stink.

HOMEWORK: Read.  Reading Response.
Journal:   Write about a time you were bullied and how you solved it.
( If you have never been bHullied, tell of a time when you saw someone bullied, and how
                            you reacted.)
