After our long weekend we graphed the temp. , read a morning message and then wrote a recount of the weekend in our Journal. We made sure to INDENT and focus on using CAPITAL letters correctly. At this point in Gr.3 this should be automatic. We also focused on having a good topic sentence.
After our Journal Mr. Greenwald gave a problem solving sheet about measurement. Our goal is to identify which operation ( adding/subtracting) to use in the problem. We are also making sure that we include the correct units in our solutions.
After recess Mr. Greenwald revisited the idea of Natural Geography. This time we looked at different pictures and had to sort them into the categories of animal life, vegetation, natural resources, bodies of water, soil, and climate. All these elements can influence where communities begin and how people respond to their environment.
After lunch we worked on our Reviews. We gathered more information and detail for our reviews so that we can get the final copy done by Friday. We looked at each of the media types and the messages in them. Many students began their rough drafts.
Mr. Brutto had the class in the computer lab. last period. They usually work on keyboarding. I noticed that several students are using effective keyboarding skills and are getting away from two-finger typing.
HOMEWORK: Lesson 9 Wordwork. Do corrections, study spelling words.
Math: complete unfinished problems.
Read.
Some students took home the rough draft of the review to complete but this is
optional.
