We started the day with handing in our Reading Reponses and graphing the temperature. We then had our Lesson 5 Spelling test and copied the words for Lesson 6 in our notebook. The theme for this weeks words are words with double0 consonants
the word list is below:
soccer hurry worry rotten kitten shallow
ribbon pillow follow puddle carry
Students had 25 min in class to work on alphbetical order, syllables, little in big and sentences.
I have sent this home for homework but it doesn't all have to be done for tomorrow. However, all should be done by Friday at the latest.
We then did some work looking at parts of the newspaper. We located the masthead, or title of the paper. We found the front page, and then students explored the papers to find other things in the paper. We looked at the "sections" eg.) world news, local news, sports, entertainment, food, fashion, business, classifieds etc.
After recess we started to work on subtraction. For some reason, many students find subtraction more challenging that addition. We are working on strategies, and I reminded students to practice there number facts to twenty to improve speed and accuracy in both addition and subtraction. We reviewed using sketches of base-10 blocks to assist with two-digit subtraction.
After lunch we had another half day of dance. The students are working very hard, learning several elements of dance, learning how to work together and also burning off energy.
